2014: My New Year’s Resolutions

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted, but I’m back 🙂

Like many other people I make New Year’s Resolutions every year. Whether I stick to them is the question 😉 I of course got this post idea from Lauren Conrad’s blog which I love!

Here are my New Year’s resolutions for 2014:

A bad habit I’m going to break: Waiting till the last minute to do something!

A destination I’d like to visit: NYC  (I’m spending this summer there!)

I’m going to work harder at: Eating healthier & taking care of myself.

A project I’d like to finish: My room.

A class I’d like to take: A spinning class!

I’d like to spend more time doing: Things I enjoy.

A food I want to eat more of: Veggies! I tend to stick to mostly fruit.

I want to wear more: Put together looks. I tend to throw something together and hope it looks good!

What are your resolutions for 2014? Let me know!

XO Rachel

BLOGMAS DAY 22: O’ Christmas Tree!

3 days until Christmas! Can you believe it?

I know I’ve been slacking on these BLOGMAS posts…

But I thought I’d show you all my Christmas tree!

Unlike other families who have the really fancy Christmas trees with all the same ornaments and a different color scheme each year.. Our Christmas tree is filled with ornaments from when we were little kids, even my parents! Also each year we buy an ornament to put on the tree that resembles something important that happened to us that year. So over the years our tree has become more and more special. Hope you all enjoyed! Have a happy holidays! 🙂

BLOGMAS DAY 9: Winter Comforts Tag!

16 days till Christmas!I hope everyone’s holidays are going great. Yesterday I spent the day baking and decorating the house, getting in the spirit. Hope you don’t mind I’m doing another tag, but I love them!

1. Do you change your makeup routine for the winter?

For the most part no. But I do use a different face powder, and darker eyeshadow colors.

2. UGGs: In or Out?

OUT, truth is they are not cute or fashionable in any way. But, that doesn’t stop me from slipping them on in the morning when my feet are cold!

3. Favorite Winter Cheek, lip, and eye products?

I don’t wear cheek color, they turn pink anyways because of the cold!  My favorite lip product is any type of chapstick because my lips get very dry in the winter. My favorite eye product is my Urban Decay Naked Palette.

4. Dunkin Donuts fall or winter drinks?

Winter, duh! Peppermint Mocha & Egg nog lattes are the best.

5. What holiday do you celebrate?

Christmas 🙂

6. Do you like to give or receive gifts?

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like getting gifts. But I do love giving gifts, it’s so much fun buying people gifts!

7. Does it snow where you live?

Yes, a lot. I’m crossing my fingers I get to leave school early today!

8. Have you ever been skiing, tubbing, or snow boarding?

All of the above! I used to ski but I got in an accident & haven’t been back ever since. I snowboard for fun on little mountains too! And of course I go tubbing all the time! It’s the best way to spend time with friends and family in the winter.

9. Favorite winter candle scent?

Anything peppermint or vanilla!

Stay tuned for my next BLOGMAS post!

BLOGMAS DAY 7: Holiday Nails!

18 Days till Christmas!

I don’t know about you, but I never have the motivation to do my nails. While I was browsing through Pinterest I saw a lot of cute holiday nails, and that made me want to do my nails! FIY I’m terrible at doing my nails!

Products I used:

(Top Left: Essie base coat, Top Right: Wet n Wild French White Crème, Bottom Left: Wet n Wild Red Red, Bottom Right: Old Glittery polish)

IMG_4494    IMG_4496

Step 1: I painted every nail with the Essie base coat.

Step 2: Painted every nail red

Step 3: On each ring finger I criss-crossed floss on top of each other, then painted that over with the white polish

Step 4: I then removed the floss and had a candy cane looking nail!

Step 5: I did an ombre effect on both my thumbnails with the glitter polish!

Here is the final product!:

Stay tuned for more BLOGMAS!

If many of you didn’t know, like myself, RSS is a fancy term for following somebody. Hypothetically… not actually following somebody. On YouTube you can subscribe to userse channels and get their videos streamed to your homepage, that’s an example of RSS. Facebook also has something similar to this, where you can add the person as a friend. When you add that person as a friend their posts stream to your news feed, that’s RSS. This site also has that feature, where you can follow users blogs and it’ll show up under “reader”. RSS stands for Rich Site Summary. In other words it’s using an XML format used for publishing and editing on various websites or blogs. Setting up an RSS onto your website or blog might take some time but it is pretty easy once you get the feel of it. There are many YouTube videos and websites with tutorials on how to set up an RSS onto your blog/website. Lucky for us RSS is already set up on most websites. WordPress is one of many that has RSS already set up for us. When you visit somebodys blog you’ll notice in the top left corner a button that says ‘follow’, that’s the RSS. Simply by clicking the follow button that users posts and future posts will show up in your ‘reader’ section. Why don’t you try it out for yourself and follow me! 🙂
