The Newest Red Lip?

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to share a makeup trend that I’ve been seeing a lot. Dark, wine-stained lips! I’ve seen this trend in magazines, on Pinterest, during NYFW, and on the streets. I definitely think this new lip color is going to takeover the classic red lip. The darkness of lip makes the whole look warmer, which is perfect fall.

Overnight Oats!

Could this be the newest craze? I definitely think so…

Overnight oats are an easy and healthy alternative to oatmeal. Those prepackaged oatmeal packets are full of sugar and just aren’t good for you at all. Overnight oats is when you take plain oats (I like rolled oats) and mix them different liquids to soak up overnight. The most common way to make these oats is to use 1/3 cup of oats, 1/3 cup of milk/almond milk, and 1/3 cup of greek yogurt. Mix it up, find a container, and put it in the refrigerator overnight! In the morning you will have soft creamy oats for you to enjoy! Most people don’t leave it plain like that.. There are endless possibilities to how you want to flavor it. You can add things like:

peanut butter

honey

maple syrup

chia seeds

flax seeds

cinnamon

and of course FRUIT!

After about 10 hours of sleep my overnight oats are ready for me to eat!

I added banana’s, strawberries, and more cinnamon! Doesn’t it look pretty?

This was my first time making overnight oats & they were delicious! I didn’t add nearly enough milk because I didn’t think it needed it. But next time I will definitely add the 1/3 cup like I was supposed to! And whatever you do, don’t add the fruit until the morning, otherwise they will be very soggy and not taste very good. There are numerous possibilities for overnight oats, be creative! If you’re stuck on what kind you want to make google is your best friend. I even saw a pumpkin pie recipe for overnight oats, perfect for fall mornings!

Now I don’t know about you but before I go out shopping I always like to get some inspiration. As I’ve said many times I LOVE PINTEREST. So I picked out some of my favorite fall fashion trends to share with you here!

Can we just take a moment to admire how perfect Candice Swanepoel is? And also her outfit? Circle skirts are making their way back from the 1950’s. This outfit is also really easy to convert into the fall/winter months. Just pop on a pair of tights, booties, and jacket and you’re good to go!

Alright, this one has to be my favorite… Her dark jeans & chambray shirt go amazing together. But my favorite part is her loafers, who knew loafers would come back in style?

ROTW-Recipe of the Week: Salted Caramel Pecan Cheesecake Bars

I’ve decided to do ROTW, or Recipe of the Week(which I totally made up). Basically once a week I’ll share a recipe that I find by posting it here! And I just want to put out there that some of these recipes aren’t my own, I most likely found them on Pinterest. Like this one!

Salted Caramel Pecan Cheesecake Bars:

Well here’s the recipe and how to make them 🙂

Crust:
3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter, melted

Cheesecake:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup caramel sauce

Topping:
1/4 cup chopped pecans
12-15 Kraft caramel candies
1 tablespoon milk or heavy cream
1/4 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Stir together graham cracker crumbs, pecans, and butter; press into the bottom of a foil lined and lightly greased 8×8-inch baking pan.
Bake for 8 minutes.
Remove from oven, and cool on a wire rack.
Beat cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.
Combine sugar and flour; gradually add to cream cheese, beating just until blended.
Add sour cream and caramel sauce.
Add egg, beating until blended.
Stir in vanilla.
Pour mixture over prepared crust, spreading evenly to edges of pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until set.
Remove from oven, and cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle pecans over cheesecake.
Chill for at least 2 hours.
Place caramel candies, salt, and milk in a microwave safe bowl.
Heat in 30 second intervals until melted and smooth.
Drizzle over cheesecake.

GREEN SMOOTHIE?!

This year, 2013, I committed to being healthier. With that I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone to try new things. Something that I’ve tried & LOVED, are GREEN SMOOTHIES! Yes… they’re green smoothies. At first I didn’t think it’d be good at all, I mean it’s a smoothie with spinach, kale, avocado, and many other fruits & veggies. I tried to make a green smoothie own my own. I looked up recipes on Pinterest, found one that I liked, then made it. I was so excited! Unfortunately I couldn’t even take a second sip, it was awful. So then I caved & bought store made. At my grocery store there were only two different kinds that I found, NAKED brand & Bolthouse Farms. I’ve had NAKED juices in the past so I thought I’d try that one first. Now this week I tried the Bolthouse Farms juice. They both tasted the same to me, very delicious!

All in all I love green smoothies/juice. They’re packed with vitamins & are a great alternative to soda.

REVIEW: St. Ives Green Tea Scrub

Like every other teenager on this planet I have problematic skin. Lucky for me though I don’t have bad acne, just breakouts once in a while. So washing my face twice a day is very important. I always use a foaming cleanser, moisturizer, topical solution, and exfoliator. A few years ago I heard that St. Ives was very bad for you skin because of how rough it is. My mom & I had used St. Ives forever, but after hearing that we stopped using it. But the other day at the store this product caught my eye, and even though it said St. Ives I thought I’d try it out.

First off, I love the packaging. It’s so clean looking & appealing to the eye.

After the course of 2 weeks I’ve noticed a big difference in my skin. My skin is a lot smoother, softer, brighter, and my pores are a lot smaller. The texture of the product is really cool, it feels like sand & the color is green!

Green tea has a lot of benefits for your body, especially your skin. It has a lot of antioxidants which are effective against free radicals which make you age faster. Also, it protects your skin from harmful rays from the sun. Green tea soothes your skin, it can improve psoriasis and rosacea.”Catechins” the antibacterial ingredient in green tea is what helps reduce pimples and acne.

Drinking green tea once in the morning and once at night is also shown to speed up your metabolism.

Overall, I love this product. It’s inexpensive & works great.
